THPS (Tetrakis(Hydroxymethyl)Phosphonium Sulfate)

What is THPS?
THPS is the short form of tetrakis(hydroxymethyl)phosphonium sulfate, and it works as an anti-microbial agent in industrial cooling system, oilfield operation as well as papermaking industry.

In 1997, THPS passed the attestation in USA, and it was used for environmental protection. In the same year, it gained the “Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award: Designing Safer Chemicals".

Typical Property
Chemical formula Blend
Appearance Clear colorless liquid
Solubility in water at 20°C Miscible
Specific gravity 1.35-1.45
PH 3.0-5.0

Application
1. As a benign biocide, our product is a combination of splendid antimicrobial activity and relatively benign toxicology profile, and it is particularly effective against sulfate reducing bacteria (SRB) which is likely to cause souring and corrosion of hydrogen sulfide.
2. Our product is a broad-spectrum bactericide, and it would avoid biofilm formation if formulated with proper surfactants. Moreover, due to the benign toxicology profile and its ability to degrade into a non-toxic substance immediately after use, this microbiocide is especially suitable when discharging cooling water into ecologically-sensitive water.
3. THPS biocide also fits for oil recovery injection water system, topside recovery system, pipeline protection and storage.

Safety and Handling
For safety considerations, personal protective equipment is highly recommended and actually it is a must. Before work, please refer to the precautions illustrated in the MSDS.

Packaging and Storage
THPS is packed in 55USG HDPE drum or 1000L IBC tote tank.

The container should be closed, and then placed at a dry, well-ventilated area that is away from heat, sparks, flames and incompatible materials. For palletizing, banding, shrink-wrapping and stacking operations, please follow safe warehousing practices.
