Glutaraldehyde is commonly used as an industrial biocide for controlling hazardous microbes found in oilfields, and it is effective for bacteria, algae and fungi.This microbiocide is particularly suitable for sulphate-reducing bacteria (SRB), hydrogen sulphide-producing bacteria (SPB) as well as slime-forming bacteria (SLYME).
For this glutaraldehyde based biocide, its surface active property allows it to penetrate into slimes and then adhere to the metal surface, thereby eliminating the possibility of further generation of slime in water injection system for secondary oil recovery.
|Appearance||Clear colorless liquid|
|Solubility in water at 20°C||Soluble|
Safety and Handling
For safety considerations, personal protective equipment is highly recommended and actually it is a must. Before work, please refer to the precautions illustrated in the MSDS.
Packaging and Storage
Glutaraldehyde is packed in 55USG HDPE drum or 1000L IBC tote tank.
The container should be closed, and then placed at a dry, well-ventilated area that is away from heat, sparks, flames and incompatible materials. For palletizing, banding, shrink-wrapping and stacking operations, please follow safe warehousing practices.
